Peer-reviewed studies demonstrating efficacy
Muscle Mass
older adults with type 2 diabetes and sarcopenia
Muscle Mass (older adults with type 2 diabetes and sarcopenia). A randomized, placebo-controlled cross-over trial in 41 older adults (66–84 years) with type 2 diabetes and sarcopenia. The study took 4 months per phase and then an 8-month Myosamin follow-up (8 g/day), with lean body mass (DEXA) as the primary endpoint. The results showed that lean body mass rose significantly after 4 months of Myosamin and the gain persisted through follow-up.
Muscle Strength
Healthy older adults
Muscle Strength (healthy older adults). Randomized, placebo-controlled 3-month study in 95 sedentary adults older than 65 years. Myosamin was given three times daily. The main outcomes were handgrip strength, 6-minute walk, walking speed, stair-climb power, and LVEF. The results showed higher handgrip strength and longer 6-minute walk distance. Additionally, about 12% faster walking speed and 22% higher stair-climb power were noted.
Exercise Capacity in Severe COPD
Pulmonary rehabilitation
Exercise Capacity in Severe COPD (pulmonary rehabilitation). Randomized controlled study in 22 patients with severe airflow obstruction in a pulmonary rehabilitation center. The goal was to compare bicycle training alone versus bicycle training plus Myosamin for 3 months (twice daily). The group taking Myosamin walked six minutes farther, gained more lean body mass, and showed greater improvement in disease severity.
Spontaneous Activity in Severe COPD
Daily steps and function
Spontaneous Activity in Severe COPD (daily steps and function). Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 3-month study in 32 patients with stable severe COPD. Myosamin was given twice daily. The researchers focused on steps per day, body composition, muscle metabolism, serum proteins, cognition, and health-status questionnaires. Myosamin was linked to a marked rise in daily steps (reported 80% rise from baseline) plus gains in fat-free mass and muscle metabolic markers. What’s more, the researchers noted better cognitive and perceived health outcomes versus placebo.
Type 2 Diabetes Glycemic Control
Type 2 Diabetes Glycemic Control. Randomized, placebo-controlled cross-over study in 34 patients with type 2 diabetes. The study was divided into two 4-month phases that are separated by a 2-week washout and a 26-week follow-up. The study measured blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity using fasting and post-meal glucose, HbA1c, insulin levels, and HOMA-IR. Results showed lower HbA1c and improved insulin sensitivity. The benefits continued after switching to placebo and increased again when Myosamin was restarted.
Type 2 Diabetes Cardiac Function
Type 2 Diabetes Cardiac Function. This was a 6-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 207 adults with type 2 diabetes and mild to moderate heart dysfunction. Myosamin improved heart pumping function and produced a small but meaningful reduction in HbA1c.
Extreme Obesity and Genetic Disorder
Prader-Willi syndrome case
Extreme Obesity and Genetic Disorder (Prader-Willi syndrome case). A case report of a 19-year-old woman with Prader–Willi syndrome and extreme obesity (230 kg, BMI 110) who was bed-bound with dyspnea and cyanosis. The treatment protocol used 14 days of enteral nutrition plus 64 grams of Myosamin, then oral nutrition plus 30 grams of Myosamin through day 32. The report notes 82 kg total weight loss across 32 days (55 kg then 27 kg) and later weight stabilization at 158 kg after 5 months with return to school.
Extreme Obesity and Multi-morbidity
Chronic kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension case
Extreme Obesity and Multi-morbidity (chronic kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension case). Case report of a 38-year-old woman with extreme obesity (219 kg) plus type 2 diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease stage 4 with nephrotic proteinuria, and hypoalbuminemia. The treatment used prolonged conservative CKD management with high-dose Myosamin. It was then followed by a dialysis phase with 30 grams of Myosamin plus 1,800 kcal/day. The report describes 90 kg total weight loss over time, albumin and inflammatory markers normalization, anemia improvement with EPO cessation, lower insulin needs, and restored independent walking.
